Each year, ACS Tasmania does something that sounds mildly adventurous. We hold a Wellness Morning Tea. In winter. In Tasmania…

The Tasmanian winter is a time that doesn't naturally lend itself to wellness. The days are approximately forty minutes long, it is profoundly dark, and for some of us, the cold is considered to be very much on the glum side of the happiness spectrum.

And yet. Here we are.

It turns out that the worst time to ignore your mental health is precisely when everything around you is grey, damp, and trying its best to make you miserable. So we lean in, book a venue, get a couple of fabulous speakers, and fight the good fight.

As always, we combine science and practical advice you can take away with you.

This year, DrRebecca Chabot, PhD, MAICD, founder of Pure Wellness Tasmania, will deconstruct the neuroscience of happiness, revealing why your brain is wired to focus on problems, and practical, evidence-based ways to rewire it for lasting wellbeing.

As always, we are grateful for the support from our emergency services here in Tasmania, and welcome Constable Rod Warrington APM, who brings 48 years of experience from the front lines of Tasmania Police, including decades training officers to stay mentally strong under extreme pressure. His insights are hard-won, real-world, and genuinely applicable to all of us.

Together, they offer a rare combination of science and lived experience, and a morning that could genuinely change how you approach your own wellbeing.

And most importantly, there will be hot drinks, good food, and actual human beings to talk to. Which, when you think about it, is probably the best thing any of us can do in the middle of winter.

What better way to get over the hump of the Winter Solstice. And also, come hang with me.

Open to all.
