Robotics and/or Game Making courses are growing faster than Moore’s Law at High Schools and College’s in Tasmania’s South!

This showcase is a chance to see a range of 10-15 min presentations from teachers as to what they are doing (or intend to do) in their courses. 

There will be a focus on latest resources available to teachers in these areas.

All invited to attend but RSVP required.

PROGRAM UPDATE

There will be a number of 10-15 min presentations including:

  • Robotics with LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 focusing on Challenges you can use with your classes, plus the Engineering Process with a dash of interesting programming.
  • The Photon Particle Wi-Fi Module. This a small and relatively cheap programmable chip that can be programmed and controlled via the web. It is great for integrating mobile technology and web interactivity with all kinds electronics projects.
  • Pre-tertiary Game Design - Course outline and structure of the pre-tertiary course will be discussed as well as a brief look at a couple of the animation & audio design tools we’re using with students.
  • 4 in 1 R & G Special
    - Drones in Schools
    - Gamestar Mechanics (Introductory Gamemaking software)
    - Current and upcoming Ed X courses in Video Game History and Game Design
    - Using Matlab and Simulink to program EV3, Arduino etc.
  • Five Tips for Teaching Arduino:
    1) Interactive apps: Blynk, Arduino (Controller/Commander) or Windows Arduino Experience

    2) Grove Sensor Shield 

    3) Bluetooth 

    4) Snap4Arduino 

    5) Snap4Arduino code -> autonomous operation -> understanding C code.
  • Tinkerkits, Codebugs and Meet Edison - The Middle Years
- Focusing on what can be done in Years 7 and 8, Tinkerkits, Codebugs and the Meet Edison are devices which can get your early secondary year students into tinkering and coding!
